Collaborative Feedback

Does the word feedback make you cringe or tighten? Do you ever have a response that indicates you haven’t had an enjoyable time with feedback or you just feel worried when someone asks, “Can I give you some feedback?” You are not alone. We have been taught to give and receive feedback in a power over/ power under paradigm and it doesn’t feel good unless you have the power. Even them, it may not leave you with feelings of warmth or joy. This three part series will shift your perspective on feedback. It may even leave you experiencing a miracle! Join Karen Starz, CNVC Certified Trainer, in a learning and exploration of feedback as a need- a quality we all desire to help us grow and contribute to one another.

This workshop is for:

  • business people

  • families/ partners

  • teachers

  • parents

  • kids of parents

  • trainers

  • ministers/ spiritual leaders

  • members of boards

  • politicians

  • activists

  • and more…

You will take away:

  • understanding of why we give/ receive feedback

  • how to do this in a connective way

  • the difference between feedback and criticism

  • the difference between punishment and reward

  • ease and comfort with feedback sessions

  • and much more…

NVC and Habits I

NVC and Habits I

Take a deep dive into self-awareness with this 12-week course.

This group will meet on Tuesdays August 5, 2025- October 21, 2025. The Zoom link will be emailed one week out from the start date.

The exploration of habits will take place in a community of trust and includes the opportunity to select a package that offers one on one sessions with Karen Starz, MA, CNVC Certified Trainer, as additional support outside of the group coursework.

Expect to consciously integrate the work for two hours a week outside of the class sessions. The "work" however, will aim to be fun, relaxing, playful, energizing and full of curiosity around your own belief systems and thoughts. I choose to call it growth work and not homework! The aim is not to change habits although, that will be a byproduct of the course. The aim is deep self-connection and connection to divine beloved energy.

  • What to expect:

With a focus on growing a deep connection with ourselves, the aim of this program is not to change habits, but to bring in an element of reflective self-understanding so that we can make conscious choices that make life more beautiful.

    • A 12-week commitment

    • Bi-weekly to weekly 1:1 support sessions*

*For select packages only. If this option is purchased, you will be contacted separately with details on scheduling sessions.

    Weekly Themes:

    • Session I. Introduction and Overview

    • Session II. "Am I powerless?"

    • Session III. Support Systems

    • Session IV. Roadmap for Self

    • Session V. Guilt and Shame

    • Session VI. Edges and Strengths (Different forms of Honesty)

    • Session VII. How to be Shame-Free

    • Session VIII. Pathways to Connection: Prayer, Meditation, Dialogue

    • Session IX. Honesty in Practice

    • Session X. Cultivating Gratitude

    • Sessions XI and XII. will be "surprise" sessions.

In my experience, we may need to extend some of the above sessions so I have built a buffer into the workshop.

     Takeaways:

    • Bring in reflection and conscious choices around habitual behavior

    • Learn to make choices that are life-enriching and serve our deeper longings

    • Move towards sustainable, choiceful changes that bring us meaning

    • Meet our own needs, primarily to matter and of purpose

    • Experiencing shift vs. making a compromise

    Who is this program for?

This is open to anyone who would like to learn and have support while exploring habits and patterns that are no longer serving them.

These habits could be internal patterns, such as thoughts or defense mechanisms, or external behaviors like substance-related habits (this program could also be a meaningful companion to a 12-step program).

Fundamentals of Nonviolent Communication I

Fundamentals of Nonviolent Communication I

For an in-depth learning of the fundamentals of Nonviolent Communication and a journey through "Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life" by Marshall Rosenberg, please join Karen Starz, CNVC Certified Trainer in January.

This group will be meeting on Wednesdays Sept. 3, 2025- Oct. 22, 2025, 5pm-7pm MT via Zoom for 8 sessions. The Zoom link will be emailed one week out from the start date.

  • What is it? This is a highly interactive, discussion-based exploration of Marshall Rosenberg’s book “Nonviolent Communication: a Language of Life, 3rd Ed.” (Puddle Dancer Press, 2015). Together, we will form an online learning community in which we can apply what we’ve read about with real people in real conversation. Reading, reflection, and review homework provide participants with the opportunity to make the most of the weekly online interactions, which will focus on practice and application. This is an excellent foundational workshop for the beginner or a sound refresher for returning practitioners.

  • Who is it for? This course is for people who have occasion to communicate with people and want to be able to do so more effectively, especially in the conversations which are most important to us. The people who will get the most out of the experience are those who read along in advance of each week’s session and come ready and willing to risk trying the things they read about in a real conversation with a real person.

  • What is unique about this course? Rosenberg’s compassionate communication framework is a powerful tool we can use to make authentic, heart-to-heart connections. Being heard, understood, and accepted is one of the most powerful gifts we can offer one another. It is also a gift that those around us desperately need. This group provides an opportunity to create peace in the world by creating peace within ourselves, as well as between ourselves and all with whom we speak.

The requested amount is $280 USD per participant for the 8-week series. You will also need to buy a copy of Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life.
